Nothing To Lose

Nothing To Lose

When I was born, I had nothing to lose.
When I started to understand the things around me,
I was always thrilled and anxious with my heart always on the loose
found joy in the things and people that surround me.

I started to get attached to people around me,
I collected sentimental souvenirs, which were so cosy
and I loved solitude and being dreamy.
life started to seem bit heavy and not so cruisy

I kept on moving and accumulating stuffs
that I couldn't afford to lose.
Felt like being locked  in hand cuffs
for I had many choices, but i struggled to choose.

Parents, friends, studies and work
my mind was always busy juggling them.
I wasn't myself and was being a jerk
for I was working hard on just pleasing them.

One day i broke all the chains and leapt into the sky
without even a weight of a feather in my heart
For I have nothing to lose and nothing to sigh
and I am anxious again about my new start.

Six Pack Lust

When you think about fitness or health, what is the first thing that you visualise? It mostly is a six pack abs ! There are several other fibre, tissue, muscle and bone in our body that we need to take care of to be healthy and fit. But the obsession about a group of muscle which encompasses your abdomen draws so much attention.

If you want to be strong and lift heavy things, either for sporting or working purposes, then having strong arms and back would be beneficial. A strong arm would include strong biceps , triceps and
forearms and shoulders. And runners would want to have strong legs which includes strong thighs, quads, calves etc. And it is really important to have a strong core which includes the abdominal muscle. Six packs is a step ahead of just strong core.

Six pack is more of a sex appeal than fitness factor. A lot of people attribute six pack to a successful love life. It is considered as a courting feature. It does sway peoples attention  , no doubt about that. It might even help you get more "Yes" when you ask someone out on a first date. Does it mean that everyone with six packs have a healthy relationship ? Actually they are no different to a non-sixpack person when it comes to relationships.

And people go to any extent to achieve six packs. A lot of people use harmful drugs to burn fat quickly to shape their abs. While those drugs may give you fast results, it also degrades the vital organs of the body and to some extent has a bad psychological effect too. They get you addicted to those drugs and might take you down the spiral.Extreme workouts are required to achieve such a photoshopic abs. People take up regimes like crossfit, which have been found  to be very harmful to the body.

If you are setting yourself a goal to achieve a six pack abs, ask yourself why you are doing it? Is it for your profession or fitness or for courting purposes. Because six packs are a luxury ,but health and character are needs.

Death of your Dreams

-The Pilgrimage by Paulo Coelho -

The Good fight is the one we fight because our heart asks it of us.The Good fight is the one that’s fought in the name of our dreams.  When we’re young our dreams first explode inside us with all of their force, we are very courageous, but we haven’t yet learned how to fight.  With great effort, we learn how to fight, but by then we no longer have the courage to go into combat.  So we turn against ourselves and do battle within.  We become our own worst enemy.  We say that our dreams were childish, or too difficult to realize, or the result or our not having known enough about life.  We kill our dreams because we are afraid to fight the good fight.
The first symptom of the process of killing our dreams is lack of time. The Busiest people I have known in my life always have time enough to do everything.  Those who do nothing are always tired and pay no attention to the little amount of work they are required to do. They complain constantly that the day is too short.  The Truth is, they are afraid to fight the good fight.

The second symptom of the death of our dreams lies in our certainties.  Because we don’t want to see life as a grand adventure, we begin to think of ourselves as wise and fair and correct in asking so little of life.  We look beyond the walls of our day-to-day existence, and we hear the sound of lances breaking, we smell the dust and the sweat, and we see the great defeats and the fire in the eyes of the warriors. But we never see the delight, the immense delight in the hearts of those engaged in the battle.  For them, neither victory nor defeat is important; what’s important is only that they are fighting the good fight.

And, finally, the third symptom of the passing of our dreams is peace.  Life becomes a Sunday afternoon; we ask for nothing grand, and we cease to demand anything more than we are willing to give.  In that state we think of ourselves as being mature; we put aside the fantasies of our youth, and we seek personal and professional achievement.  We are surprised when people our age say that they still want this or that out of life.

But really, deep in our hearts, we know that what has happened is that we have renounced the battle for our dreams-we have refused to fight the good fight. When we renounce our dreams and find peace, we go through a period of tranquillity.  But the dead dreams begin to rot within us and to infect our entire being.  We become cruel to those around us, and then we begin to direct this cruelty against ourselves. What we sought to avoid in combat-disappointment and defeat-came upon us because of our cowardice.  And one day, the dead, spoiled dreams make it difficult to breath, and we actually seek death.  It’s death that frees us from out certainties, from our work, and from that terrible peace of Sunday afternoons.”

Parrot & Raven

Why everyone loves the parrot but not the raven
both are nature's lovely creation.

The parrot sings but the raven crows,
why do we judge them this way
what would the raven think of our voice who knows
both of them are just different in their own way.

The parrot is lovable
and the raven is just a pest
oh, who created this stupid fable
for both are equally best.

We pet the parrot in a cage
that's what we do to the things we love
we chase the raven away with rage
and make them free and fly above

You love the parrot because its cute
and always ask it for a dance
how do you know the raven cant love
have you ever given it a fair chance?

Cocktails for Moods

Cocktails are always a pleasure do indulge in. We have it for celebration, holidays etc. or just because the local bar has a cocktail happy hour evening. We try different cocktails when we get a chance and check out how they feel like. Then we start to have a favourite one. Everyone has a favourite cocktail. The moment you ask them what cocktail they would like, they just blurt it out without a second thought.

A lot of people have a few favourites. And they choose the one based on their mood or occasion. Mood can often be associated with the occasion. We make this choice consciously or sometimes unconsciously. It is really interesting to see how a same cocktail can have a different effect on different people. An Espresso Martini gives me the kick and energy to recover from a long day or to start a long night of party. Some of my friends feel very soothing and relaxed when they have Espresso Martini. And a sugary citrus cocktail makes me calm and focus just on the cocktail and savour it. Some people get hyper active with the sugar burst.

Based on my experience with cocktails , I have come up with my favourites and how it can be related to my mood.

Tequila Sunrise :
Its a sugary and citrusy cocktail. And I have it when I feel bit flustered or frustrated, especially after along hard day at work. Its soothing sugary taste and citrusy flavour calms my nerves and lightens my evening.

 Espresso Martini :
The caffeine and the coffee flavour awaken my senses and boosts up my energy levels. I love to start a party with an Espresso Martini.

Long Island Iced Tea :
Sometimes I am bit late to a get together or a party and all my friends have already had cocktails and are pleasantly buzzed. There is a energy mismatch between us. That's when I go for the good old Long Island Iced Tea, to take me close to their energy levels swiftly.

Cuba Libre :
Rum is something that I feel a bit hard to drink. So When I want to have a drink and take it slow and talk more, Cuba Libre it is!

Gimlet :
Gin is my favourite of all spirits. And Gimlet is perfect with Gin and Lime. Its my favourite of all cocktails.

Anger

Anger... easily tempting and the most destructive thing in the world.

Everyone has felt anger and will feel it again. Its one of the core human emotion that cant be avoided. we feel angry for a lot of reasons, ranging from betrayal, treason, heart break etc. Philosophers and Psychiatrists have come up with lot of research and theory about anger and how it can be tackled or used to our benefit. My argument is, is anger really a bad thing ? I don't think so. If anger is one of the core human emotion, and lack of it will make us less human.

In fact I would argue that anger has been directly or indirectly the cause for all advancements in human civilization. People were angry about shortcomings in the society and that urged them to come up with better solutions/inventions. People also have caused destruction to the society due to anger. Like every other human emotions like fear, love, sadness etc., there is always a negative side to it. Sadness can cause people to be depressed or can motivate them to make themselves a better person or help others from avoiding them the misfortunes that happened to them.

It is strongly believed that love can overcome every negative force that can happen to
human beings including anger. It is true, love can heal and gives you a heavenly feeling even if you feel it only for a while. But what makes you experience the most powerful feeling of love? you need to experience a deep anger or sadness in order experience intense love and be able to appreciate it.

Whenever I have felt anger, it was because of heart break or disappointment. But every single time that anger has made me into a better person and made me experience various amazing things in life that wouldn't have been possible otherwise. That anger has pushed me to go beyond my comfort zone and that led me to find some amazing friends whom I love to my life. All the love that exists in my life wouldn't be possible without the anger I had experienced. The next time you feel a fiery anger, be sure that you are going to get better as a person and more love is around the corner.

My Favourite Beers

Paulaner

Paulaner is a popular Bavarian beer. Its very crisp and easy to drink. Its very nice to drink
in any weather. Goes well with a German salamis. It is not available at every pub in
Australia, although its available easily in Europe. Alcohol content is around 5.5 % for the original beer and they also have other varieties with higher alcohol content. Paulaner is always my special beer.

Stella Artois

This is my second favourite beer. Its simple and smooth. I love having it with roast chicken and salad. I usually prefer Stella in Australia as its available in most of the pubs. And especially in Belgian pubs where you can get a big stein of Stella. its reasonably priced and very delicious !

Heineken

Heineken is my go to beer. If I have to order a beer in Australia without much thought , it would be Heineken. Its standard and popular and easily available in most of the pubs. Its a nice refreshing drink especially after work. Its bit more bitter but its smooth. It has relatively low alcohol content.

Rogers

Rogers is a locally brewed beer in Western Australia. Its a pale ale style beer. Its bit dark amber colour and citrusy. Has a decent alcohol content to add punch to the taste. Its very nice to have Rogers with fish and chips or any seafood platter. Its very popular in Western Australia.

Peroni

Peroni is also a popular international beer and easily available in pubs in Australia. Its very refreshing and less bitter. Its alcohol content is pretty low. Its nice to have it along with food. Peroni is bit expensive but worth it. Peroni goes well with sandwiches and salads.

ToughMudder

I did my first Toughmudder last year in Germany. It was held at Wassertrüdingen , a small town about a couple of hours drive south of Munich. It all started when I was making plans for a holiday in Europe. One of my best friend lives in Munich and hence I thought I would visit her and do Oktoberfest in Munich. As I was planning for the trip, one day my friend asked me if I would like to participate in Toughmudder. I have tried doing a marathon the previous year and play sport regularly, so getting fit for Toughmudder was a challenge rather than a worry. So I decided to do it!

I planned my trip so that I get Toughmudder out of the way first. So my trip started with
Munich. I landed in Munich a couple of days before the Toughmudder to make sure I get rid of jetlag before the event. I rested well and had couple of Paulaner beers the day before with my friends to get into the mood.

We left for Wassertrudingen the evening before the event and stayed at a lovely countryside
motel. The food was awesome there. And we were a group of eight people. We went to bed early. I woke up next morning and it was cold. Looked out through my window to a beautiful
countryside view of Bavaria. We had breakfast and put on our Toughmudder gear. We had printed a t-shirt for our team. We took a taxi down to the event location. And got the registrations done and did some warm up along with other mudders. I couldn't hear a single word in English around me except when my friends spoke to me. I was deeply immersed in culture, language and food of Bavaria. I enjoyed every second of it.

Then the event started. We started running and going through obstacles. It was more tough
that I had imagined it to be. I started cramping up towards half way mark. But my friends
helped me to stretch and motivated me to keep going. I kept going. Every fellow mudder at the event helped each other out through out the course. It was an awesome feeling of comradery and togetherness.

Two of the obstacles that I was really scared of was the electric shock and cage crawl. Cage
crawl is where you enter a cage filled with water. you lie down face up on the water and hold
on to the cage grill and crawl for about 20 metres. it is tough if you are claustrophobic.
With water entering your eyes and mouth. I learned half way through that obstacle that I
shouldn't panic if I get water on my eyes or into my nose. By not panicking I was gently able
to get the water out of my eyes and nose and still keep going towards the exit.

The electric shock was the last obstacle of the event. That was the obstacle between me and the victory beer that was served once you complete the course. We all took a deep breath and started our dash through a field of wires. We all got zapped. I fell to my knees and crawled my way to the finish line.

What do you get out of Toughmudder? you overcome your fears. you learn that you can do anything in life if you try and persevere without giving up. you realise that teamwork can
achieve anything. And working with your peers can make any journey enjoyable and achievable ! And the other best thing that I did after completing Toughmudder was Oktoberfest !

Do You Fit ?

Being fit and healthy has never been easier than now. There
The popular perception is that a lot of people are obese and unfit these days. The chief reasons for the increased obesity, especially among children, is attributed to unhealthy food habits and lifestyle. It is true that a lot of people have health

is an abundance of health clubs in every locality these days.
issues due to bad diet and lack of physical activities.

But looking on the other side, health and fitness has bloomed into a million dollar industry. There is more awareness created in the society, about the importance of good health, than ever before. Lots of health and fitness clubs offer services at competitive prices and also at people's convenience.

Personal trainers make sure that people can avail their services even in the comfort of their home, work place or local park.
They also design routines based on individual needs.

Apart from the modern fitness solutions, ancient health practices like yoga, tai-chi etc. have grown in popularity massively. There are a lot of yoga centres and lots of
people turning to yoga to cure their physical ailments like back pain, arthritis, stress etc.

Being fit has a lot of benefits. to name a few,
* You look good
* Your body is healthy and you can do more stuff and  experience more in life.
* Live a fulfilling life and avoid mental illness like depression etc.
* Most importantly , reduce your medical expense.

The advancement in science has enabled us to understand our body better and hence we have better opportunity to keep our body at its best. The world offers so much to a person with good health. Clothes, sports, travel, work etc. are all slowly being tailored for the fitter and better person. The question is , do we want to fit in the world?

Where are you?

The garden is beautiful and full of lovely roses
I am sitting there by myself, oh where are you my princess.

The beach is bubbly, bright and sunny
I am walking there by myself, oh where are you my Easter bunny.

The café is beautiful and the coffee is full of flavour
I am sipping it by myself, oh where are you my sugar.

The florist has flowers and I have money
I couldn't buy them because, I don't know where you my honey.

I am looking at the night sky , and wonder who you could be
the moon says, i will find you if its meant to be.

My Favourite Cafes in Perth CBD

Having a good coffee break is an important aspect of work life. And having being working in the city for a long time, I have explored and tried quite a lot of cafes along with my friends. And I have narrowed down my favourite coffee places. This is just my personal opinion and different people will have different opinion.

These are my favourite coffee shops :)

Uncle Joe's : Rating 8.5/10

This is a very nice stylish cafe with nice cozy couches and chairs, located on King street.
Its spacious and you get a lot of personal space at your table. The food menu is nice too.
Their cold drip coffee is very nice, something which is popular during hot summer days. The
coffee blend they use varies during the week, but its very smooth and has a rich flavour.
They are also reasonably priced.

La Veen : Rating 8.5/10

La Veen is located at the corner of Wellington and King street. Its very busy in the morning.
The cafe has limited seats but very popular for take aways. Their blend is very suited for
espressos or machiatos. If you are looking for a strong coffee to pep you up on a sleepy
afternoon, La Veen is the place to go!

Flour Mill : Rating 7/10

Flour Mill have very friendly staff and a good gourmet food menu. Their coffee is good too.
They have plenty of seats to sit. They have cozy corner couches for a group of people and
also smaller tables for two. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed. Nice place to have your
business meetings over a cup of coffee. Its located at Queen Street. There is also an
entrance next to Bankwest building on Rain Square.

Chik & Kent : Rating 7/10

Chik & Kent is actually a indo-western fusion restaurant. They also do take away coffees
through the window on Murray Street. They dont do coffees like normal cafes. They just have black or white coffees. You can request for an extra shot at extra cost. They have nice
orange cakes which I love.

Maven : Rating 6.5/10

Maven is located inside Raine Square building. Their blend and flavour is very nice. They are bit on the higher side when it comes to cost. But its very popular amongst office workers. And usually its very busy. They also have nice cupcakes.

Tartine Cafe : Rating 6/10

Tartine cafe is located on the corner of Wellington and William Street. It does get busy at
peak hours, especially in the morning. Nothing extraordinary with their blend. They have a
decent food menu.

Dome : Rating 6/10

The Dome cafe is located at the corner of Milligan and Hay Street. Its a standard Dome
cafe.Nice cosy chairs. Decent coffee and food. Food is bit pricy. But coffee is priced
reasonably and they hardly disappoint you.

Coffee Club : Rating 6/10

Coffee Club is located right next to the entrance of Underground train station on Murray
street. The location is a big plus to the cafe. It attracts the shoppers on Murray street
mall and also the people coming from/going to the train station. Their coffee is priced
reasonably and their flavours are good. They are more known for their food, which is really
good.

Clothes maketh a man

The first impression people make of us is usually visual. They remember us based on what they see. Even before they know our names or who we are, our external appearance is believed to make a significant give away as to who we might be. As much as this view might sound very materialistic, it can be used to our advantage. What we wear does enhance our charismatic personality. And sometimes people use what they wear to hide their short comings. Thus what we wear really is a very important part of our personality.

Popular male characters from TV series that come to mind are Harvey Specter from Suits and Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother. Both of them are well known for their impeccable dressing sense. As much as they have a charismatic personality as any other actors, their attire does give them that edge over others. Bond girls are never forgotten for the way they dress and make them look as sharp as their tough personality.

There is no fixed style for everyone. You have to choose what boosts your personality. Its worth the effort to try and find the style that suits you. That doesn't mean you have to go to the expensive brands. Inspire the world with your style.

Fight

"Why do we fight? What is that thing deep with any each of us? That compels us to settle disagreements with our fists? Whatever it is, it's there right from the beginning."

That is not my quote, it is from a from a popular TV show. Ever since I listened to it for the first time, I can't get it out of my mind. I think there is something about this quote that I find very true.

In this age, what we call as an advanced civilised society, people still do fight using their fists. But as human civilization evolved, there has been many advancements in the way we live our lives. We have found better ways to do everything in our daily lives. That also includes better ways to fight! Despite the rise and fall of philosophy, religions and technologies the urge fight and compete has not died.

In pre-historic times humans fought with their fists and sticks and other simple weapons
they could use. And today we fight with guns, chemicals, and even politics. The only difference is the way in which we fight. In some way humans fight to prove who is better
 or correct.

I wonder if this mysterious quality in humans would ever fade out. It can be subdued temporarily with law, religion, fear etc. But eventually we all fight over the very measures that were put to keep us from fighting.

If you disagree that we still have the urge to fight, think back slowly as when was the last time  you had to fight for something. It might have been a fight for rights or a fight for
might but your last fight wouldn't have been long ago. Its a question of when and not if !

Coffee Date ;)

I have a date every morning,
my day doesn't start until I see her.
for she is so warm and charming,
I cannot go a day without her.

she comes in brown , black or white
and could be sweet or bitter.
but she never ceases to delight,
and always makes me feel better.

She is so full of taste and vigour
that our date is passionate but short.
Sometimes I just cherish and savour,
every single kiss of hers warms my heart.

Summer or winter she is always there
abundant with her grace and fragrance
Energy and hope she has plenty to share
with unconditional love and ever lasting romance.
